Obey the Pure Word of God

Proverbs 30:5-6 (King James Version)

5Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Proverbs 30:5-6 (The Message)

5-6 The believer replied, "Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help.So don't second-guess him; he might take you to task and show up your lies."

Word in Action:

Reverence and obey the pure Word of God.

100% fruit juice and juice made with artificial flavors can each bring a level of relief to a thirsty person. In fact, if you are extremely thirsty, you will probably gulp the drink down so quickly that you never take the time to examine its purity. Was it 100% juice? Was it 90%? 50%? Sometimes, we can be so focused on getting what “hits the spot” for our senses, that we fail to consider how it will affect our physical well-being in the long term. Similarly, sometimes we are so grateful to hear a message that uplifts our emotions that we fail to consider how it will affect our spiritual well-being in the long term.

We need to examine each message that we receive in order to make sure that it aligns with God’s word. Ask Him for understanding and confirmation. Search the scriptures. Be prayerful. If you truly have a desire to receive God’s pure word, He will make sure you get it. Don’t allow the enemy to bring confusion into your mind or your heart. If you are truly trusting God in the matter and not relying on your own understanding or secretly harboring motives of self-interest, God will protect you in your decision making.

If you honestly believe that God has spoken to the issues of your heart, you MUST act on it. Do not add anything to His words of direction just to make things more convenient for you or others around you. Do not allow others to interject their personal desires or opinions into the message that God has spoken to or inspired within you.

Trust God. Don’t allow the direction He has given you to be diluted. Simply obey. The Bible tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice.
